DESTINY AT DAWN
The journey of a painting begins with a single brush stroke and that was how it all began when I started to paint the illuminating sky of the dawn, breaking over the ocean and its shores, as an old fisherman prepares his boat, a prominent highlight of this vast seascape.
I did a lengthy study of this scene with its ever changing environment, the consistent motion of the sea, the surf and the distinctive range of colours, which formed the layers of vibrant water and tide from the horizon to the shore. In the process a lot of modifications had to be made to waves and the water which were painted over repetitively to make it appear more vivacious.
The sketch of this artwork was done in August 2023 but the painting started in middle of February 2024 and was completed in 165 hours. It has been titled based on the lonely fisherman’s struggle for his livelihood as he is about sail into an unknown destiny ahead.
