Portrait art is the most intense mode of individualism expression and I feel creating a portrait is not the end, but the beginning of creating something which is full of life.
This was one of the most intensely painted subjects in recent times, being a commissioned portrait of my little niece and a rather belated surprise for her 10th birthday.
As the painting progressed I could not help but admire her mischievous smile and the lively sparkle which transformed into her eyes that kept peeking at me every day as I strode into my studio.
Just like all the portraits I have done, I enjoyed sketching and painting her considering it as quite an intricate piece of art. The painting has been titled after her nickname ( ‘Kutty Baby’ as she is fondly called) and took me more than 150 hours to complete.
