Sharon

Portraits are not my favourite subjects to experiment or try even though there has been commissioned offers for many portraits. Unlike a landscape, I prefer to do portrait only when I feel comfortable to do so. There is vast difference between the pencil sketch and the final painting and the only thing that still attracts me to do a portrait is the beautiful development of the skin tones and the life it brings into the face as the portrait takes shape.

This was one such portrait which I initially tried having also sketched a portrait of resembling her young days and this painting is in total contrast to the pencil sketch of her. She was my neighbour and a very good friend and of all the portraits I have done this was so far my best.

This was also my first ever professional portrait which eventually paved way for other upcoming portraits, painted with acrylic and oil on canvas sheet pasted on hard board. Titled “SHARON”, I painted her in October 2019 and again nearly took me more than 20 days to complete though it is smaller in size compared to the landscapes I do and still remains with me in my personal collection.
