The Poison Ivy

This was totally a different subject that I had chosen to experiment with as it was more monotonous but also a theme that was also associated closely with nature. Accomplishing this with various shades of greens was an immense challenge since the green over dry leaves was a contrasting theme, a deviation out of my comfort zone.

This was my first attempt using the Pthalo Green from Winsor and Newton which helped me achieve the most distinctive glow over the green leaves. I would have titled this subject “Experimenting with Greens” but the buyer himself titled it “The Poison Ivy” as that was exactly the plant depicted in this scene.

Started in early February this year in my previous studio, the painting, though smaller in size, went through a lot of disruptions and could not be completed in its due course of time. Through my darkest hours, I painted the finest strokes and this painting was completed at my new studio today.
