Vilpatti Road Kodaikanal

The hill town of kodaikanal was always a fascination for me ever since I set foot into its charming hills. I have been there almost every other year during my childhood days and I have done many water colour paintings of kodaikanal and its misty mountains. Among the various suburbs of Kodaikanal, Vilpatti is a small village located in the suburbs. I did have this photo of this particular road downloaded and decided to paint it. This was one among the vertical canvases I have done with Oil on Canvas sheet pasted on board.

It was later gifted to another cousin of mine after being framed. The Telegraph poles in the painting were painted out of imagination. The rustic mud road hides into the greenery at the horizon as it continues on to the next hill range to Vilpatti and the clouds were thickly done to add more misty effect to this scene to portray it as a hill road.

This was also a painting which is devoid of habitation but also a road more portrayed as a intermittently used path which eventually made this appear as a very abandoned cart road. Titled as “VILPATTI ROAD”, it was completed in April 2018.
