I could say quite a few things about this painting because this was my first ever painting started after a long break from my art career. I resumed back again in 2016 with this first canvas which was done after completely restructuring my studio to accommodate a new standing easel. Since then most of my paintings have been done using the standing easel. This was a photograph I found on the internet and initially I was a bit hesitant to try this south Indian rural scene but I decided to go ahead with it as I found it interesting to try the early morning sunrays and the three women walking on road.
The style of the leaves on the trees were still primitive since I was restarting all over again but the painting as such took me a long time to complete since I was not using acrylics at that point of time. It was oil over oil and wet over dry which made the completion much longer. More than the landscape, the three women posed a demanding time for me as I tried my best to catch their facial expression even in the dark but I cud do only what was possible. I enjoyed painting those women because of their nonchalant walk in the early hours and hence I titled it as “WALK IN THE WOODS”. Last but not the least, this was also the very first painting I sold after resuming my hobby again.
